Outback Food, Wine and Music Festival returns with Longreach Airport support
The flavours of the outback will be celebrated once again at the 2021 Outback Food, Wine and Music Festival, with Longreach Airport re-joining as major sponsor.
Staged on 11 September, the event will be headlined by celebrity chef Colin Fassnidge and hosted by media personality Kimberley Busteed, with entertainment by Encore.
Longreach Airport General Manager Brendan Cook said the airport team was excited about supporting the event, which attracted visitors from around the region and beyond.
“This event celebrates our region’s unique tourism offering and showcases the wonderful, warm hospitality that the outback is well known for,” he said.
“We see real value in being involved in an event that not only brings the town together, but encourages people to visit Longreach, stay a little longer and experience the magic of the outback.”
Longreach Airport first sponsored the festival in 2019.
The event has also secured Queensland Government funding through its $3 million Year of Outback Tourism campaign.
Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame CEO Lloyd Mills said plans were well-progressed for the 2021 event, with an exciting showcase of food and wine planned.
“With the fantastic support of Longreach Airport, we look forward to presenting a tantalising line up of outback-inspired food, wine and craft beer,” he said.
“The theme for the 2021 event is the Roaring 20s, so we encourage everyone to dress to impress – think black, gold, white, flapper dresses and tuxedos.”
Longreach Airport is the gateway to outback Queensland, servicing the central west region that includes Longreach, Winton and Barcaldine. Longreach Airport is owned by Queensland Airports Limited, which also owns and operates Mount Isa, Townsville and Gold Coast airports.
